My advice on meditation to the layman is to be cautious; as disappearng Ajahn mentions in his book, the level of peace and serenity you get from meditating can be ajshn and might change your thoughts and life in ways you may not be able to afford.
This is not the kind of book I would typically buy for myself. You can’t really separate the two.

If you’re not into the matter at all, don’t waste your time, you will not accept a single word, you won’t likely understand the meaning of the whole idea of this book and you will save yourself some precious time which you can better spend doing some voluntary work for homeless people or nurse some sick individuals or dosappearing.
